True Temper Sports names Lorne Smith as its Global Sales Manager, Posted 1/31/16

True Temper Sports, the designers, engineers and manufacturers of high performance lacrosse handles under the TRUE brand, has named Lorne Smith its Global Sales Manager. Smith will be responsible for lacrosse sales throughout North America and Internationally. He will also be working with the product development and marketing teams.Lorne Smith

Prior to his appointment, Smith was Sales Director for TRUE on the West Coast. He is also the founder and owner of Firethreads, the company that created revolutionary lacrosse shooting laces and string pieces. Prior to that, he worked 12 years for Warrior and Brine Sports—first as the founder and director of the firm’s Players Club Experience Camp Circuit and then in sales.

Smith’s professional career followed a long, successful run as a lacrosse player and coach. He was a three-time All-American midfielder and attackman at Princeton where his team won three straight national championships in the late 90s. After school, he coached at Stanford University for five years. He also played for the Major Lacrosse League LA Riptide in 2006-2007.

In 2013, Smith was recognized for his on-field achievements and continued involvement in the game by being inducted into the US Lacrosse Baltimore Chapter Hall of Fame.

Epoch Lacrosse continues to push the boundaries of lacrosse equipment technology while also setting the tone for the industry with its bold graphic designs. The Gen.6 Dragonfly limited edition gold shaft will feature the Dragonfly logo in solid GOLD with a corresponding pinstripe that runs the length of the shaft with Epoch’s proprietary black textured surface serving as the primary background color. Epoch’s GOLD shaft will only be available in men’s shafts and come in either a 30” shaft (C30 — $140) or a 60” shaft (C60 — $200) and come in flex profiles ranging from a mid flex (iQ5) to a soft flex (iQ9).

Face-off specialist and two-time All-American selection at the University of Maryland Charlie Raffa is the newest member of Epoch Lacrosse’s team of endorsed athletes.

In 2016, Raffa will be putting Epoch’s Gen.6 F30 FOGO face-off shaft through its paces and providing Epoch’s designers with real world feedback on the recently launched Hawk Sequel head and Otter Mesh.

“Charlie is a remarkable athlete and his knowledge and shear dominance at the face-off X is unparalleled,” said James Miceli, principal and founder of Epoch Lacrosse. “We are excited to get our products into Charlie’s hands and have him put our products especially the F30 through its paces. His unbiased appraisal will pay huge dividends in the development of all of our products.”

A native of Syosset, NY, Raffa has been on fast track to lacrosse success since his playing days at St. Anthony’s High School, where he was a two-time NSCHSAA All-League selection, 2011 Under Armour All-American selection and led St. Anthony’s to back-to-back NY state championships. Playing for the Terrapins Raffa, played in 42 games over the coarse of his junior and senior years and recorded 11 goals and 3 assists for 14 points. Charlie won 373 of his 612 face-offs for a .609 win percentage while also recording 229 ground balls.
