They call them the Rebels, because Rebel Elite is a rare non-profit club team that focuses on community service projects and has gained a reputation as a competitive team at the national level.

Rebel Elite has a high school club team and recently launched a U15 team. Its high school program has players from 18 different schools in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey, with PA players coming from as north as the Lehigh Valley.

Rebel Elite has been the runner-up twice at the MVP Tournament at Rutgers, and twice took fifth place at the Dick’s Tournament of Champions in Florida. Recent grads of the program include North Carolina freshman sensation Joey Sankey (Penn Charter), Ohio State face-off specialist Shawn Kaplan (Plymouth Whitemarsh), Hobart face-off specialist Gryphin Kelly (Plymouth Whitemarsh), Oregon sophomore goalie Stephen Oppenheimer (Germantown Academy) and recent Quinnipiac graduate Jack Oppenheimer (Germantown Academy, attackman).

The Rebels also participated in two community service projects last year. One was the “Score for the Cure” fundraiser for Dan Carr Sr., a popular lacrosse advocate and coach in the Philly region, whose son Dan is a goalie at Lehigh. The Rebels also volunteered with the Special Olympics at Villanova and their coaches volunteered with the United Way in Wildwood at the Triathlon.
